 Plumbing and Heating Tips

  • Tip 1 : Locate the incoming main water supply stop and label it 'MAIN". Do not block the access to this valve for any reason.

  • Tip 2 : Locate, identify and label all other stop valves under all sinks and check them periodically by turning the vales on and off at least twice a year.

  • Tip 3 : Make sure you know the location of the drain valves incase you need to empty the water of the central heating systems.

  • Tip 4 : Ensure that all exposed pipes and the storage system are properly insulated, particularly in the roof space or attic.

  • Tip 5 : Before the weather reached 40 degrees, turn off all feeds to outside faucets and hoses. This will prevent water pipes from freezing. If you have a storage cistern in the roof space it will be sensible to open the hatch to allow some heat from the house to help keep the cistern from freezing.

  • Tip 6 : Inspect your cold water storage system (metal tank) regularly and check for pipe corrosion.

  • Tip 7 : Check the condition of flexible hosepipes to plumbed-in domestic appliances at regular intervals.

  • Tip 8 : Dripping taps and ball-valves are a sure sign that your plumbing system requires maintenance. To avoid them becoming major problems call us today without delay.

  • Tip 9 : Have central heating boilers and other heating appliances serviced regularly.

  • Tip 10 : Make a note of our Telephone number 1-800-436-0200 and keep the number near your phone or in a prominent place for emergencies.
